Information & Recruitment Meeting @ MIT

Information & Recruitment Meeting
Friday, November 19th - Noon-1:00PM
MIT Room 33-116, near AeroAstro Library

We are seeking volunteers for the next phase of design studies. There are a number of fun areas to discuss, plus good potential thesis topics, IAP and UROP projects.

This covers most many disciplines, but expertise is especially needed in chemical engineering, material science, plastics engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering, industrial engineering, geology & mineralogy, metallurgy, and agriculture.

The primary area of focus for the upcoming design effort will be investigating technologies and processes useful for the manufacture of materials from local resources (dirt, rock, CO2 - atmosphere, subsurface water, plant products, and reused spacecraft components, etc). Such manufacturing reduces the mass of required materials brought from Earth while simultaneously establishing infrastructure that can be used for settlement expansion.

The design studies will begin with some minimal review of background material leading to an intensive IAP workshop. If you or someone you know would be interesting in working on this exciting project, please attend our introductory session or send us an email If unable to attend, but interested as an IAP or Spring semester project, also contact us
