The Phoenix Mars Mission is making its final approach to Mars;
preparing for entry, descent and landing at 4:38pm (US Pacific Time),
this Sunday. Mission controllers expect a signal from Phoenix about 15
minutes after touch down.
The Mars Foundation has an acute interest in this mission as the
"Scout Class" lander will provide invaluable measurements of the water
content, past and present, on and below the Martian surface. We have
followed this mission closely because of the huge benefits Phoenix
will provide future manned exploration, and settlement, of the Red
Planet.
